Katy Perry made a statement entrance at the 2026 Met Gala on Monday, arriving solo at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City in an ivory dress and space-themed astronaut mask covering her face. As she climbed the museum’s iconic steps, she briefly pulled the mask aside and flashed a wide smile for the photographers before continuing inside. According to People, the mask was designed by Miodrag Guberinic.
According to a release shared with the publication, the headpiece is meant to represent “a literal and symbolic reflection that invites the observer to consider that their perception of others can mirror their own internal world, and conversely mask truth.”

The space motif in Perry’s Met Gala look carried a personal thread: last year she traveled to space alongside Lauren Sánchez Bezos, who serves as honorary co-chair of the 2026 Gala.
Perry’s appearance at the event comes on the heels of Ruby Rose leveling sexual assault allegations against her in April.
Australian actress Ruby Rose alleged in a series of Threads posts on April 12 that Perry had assaulted her at an Australian nightclub when she was in her 20s. A representative for Perry denied the claims outright, calling them “dangerous reckless lies.” Victoria Police confirmed to USA TODAY that Rose’s posts prompted a police investigation into the alleged incident in Australia.
