Keith Urban was forced to cancel one of his shows and put on “complete vocal rest” because of laryngitis.
The illness forced the “Blue Ain’t Your Color” singer to cancel his performance at Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, South Carolina on Thursday night, Oct. 16.
A statement from the venue indicated that Urban’s laryngitis started earlier in the week.
“He has been placed on complete vocal rest and Dr. Garrett is optimistic that he will be back onstage for his Nashville show,” the venue wrote. “If you purchased tickets through Ticketmaster, refunds will be issued automatically; there is nothing further ticketholders need to do. If you purchased from a third-party reseller, please reach out to your point of purchase.”
Urban, 57, also apologized to fans for the cancelation.
“Hey Greenville, I’m so SO sorry to have to cancel the show,” the Grammy winner wrote. “I know all the logistics it takes to get to a concert these days and I’ve never taken any of that, or any of YOU for granted. I’m looking forward to getting back there when we can!!!!!”
Urban’s next stop on his High and Alive Tour is in Nashville, Tennessee on Friday, Oct. 17.
The CMA winner split from his wife, actress Nicole Kidman, on Sept. 29 after 19 years of marriage, E! News reported. The two were living apart “since the beginning of the summer.”
The couple’s daughters — Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret — have been living with Kidman in their shared home in Nashville while Urban has been staying in a separate home in the city.
The longtime couple got married in June 2006. On June 25, Kidman posted an Instagram photo of her herself cuddled up to Urban with the caption, “Happy Anniversary Baby.”
Kidman had recently finished filming “Practical Magic 2″ in London while Urban has been on his tour.
