After Nicole Kidman filed for divorce from longtime husband Keith Urban, rumors started to swirl regarding reasons for their breakup.
However, according to singer Alexandra Kay, the A-list couple’s split has nothing to do with singer Maggie Baugh.
In an interview with Taste of Country, published Wednesday, October 22, the 34-year-old country artist said she was “heartbroken” for friend Baugh, 25, and Urban, 57, due to the insane “media scrutiny” surrounding them.
Kay added, “They’re, like, stirring up rumors about Maggie Baugh, and I’m like, ‘She’s a good friend of mine, and I know that’s absolutely not true.’ I’ve met her boyfriend, and she’s very happy, and she has nothing to do with that whole relationship [with Urban].”
She continued, “I feel sad for everybody involved that people are doing that and picking apart their personal life. I pray for peace for them and for everybody to have their privacy.”
After news broke that Kidman, 58, and Urban had split, footage of the Ripcord artist changing the lyrics to his song “The Fighter” — inspired by Kidman — surfaced.

The original song lyrics are: “When they’re tryna get to you, baby I’ll be the fighter.” However, Urban sang, “When they’re tryna get to you, Maggie I’ll be your guitar player.”
Baugh — who was on tour with Urban at the time — then posted the video to Instagram on September 27, writing in the caption, “Did he just say that👀.”
Kidman filed for divorce days later on September 30, citing irreconcilable differences.
Following the divorce news, a source exclusively told Globe, “Nicole was stunned and betrayed by Keith’s decision to split, and she’s still trying to process it.”
According to the source, Urban’s friends knew he was ready to move on: “Keith was more honest with his friends, but Nicole buried her head in the sand, hoping for a miracle.”
