Kelsea Ballerini and Chase Stokes have split after more than two years together, a rep for the country singer confirms Us Weekly.
While neither star have yet to address the breakup, Stokes, 32, recently celebrated Ballerini’s 32nd birthday.
“Although you keep saying you’re not excited for 32, I’d say I’m lookin’ forward to more of this,” he wrote via Instagram on Friday, September 12. “Happy birthday, my love.”
Ballerini subtly “liked” the upload, which featured a carousel of photos.
The country singer and the Outer Banks star were first linked in January 2023. Ballerini confirmed their relationship one month later, revealing that she had slid into Stokes’ DMs.
“[My manager] was like, ‘You know who’s really cute, like, when you’re ready? Chase.’ I was like, ‘You’re so right,’” she recalled during a February 2023 appearance on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast. “His handle is ‘@hichasestokes,’ and I just said, ‘Hi, Chase Stokes.’”
In October 2024, Stokes shared the foundation of his connection with Ballerini, noting on the Today show, “I truthfully think when you find somebody who’s not just somebody you love and adore, but is also your best friend, you’ve kind of got the best of both worlds.”
Earlier this year, Ballerini and Stokes celebrated their two-year anniversary with gushing Instagram posts.
“Two years of catching each other in countless cities, perfecting a chimichurri steak and creating a world that revolves around dogs,” she wrote via Instagram in January. “Love you so, teammate.”

Stokes, for his part, captioned his own post, “Two laps around the sun with you, I love you kb (especially when you laugh so hard you wheeze, and 8 a.m. dance routines to your toothbrush).”
In an April interview with People, Ballerini revealed that she and Stokes strengthened their connection by going to therapy together.
“I look at love really practically now, and somehow it’s my favorite version of it,” she explained. “Now my version of love that I’ve found, it’s steady and it’s human, and we work on it. That, to me, honestly, is the sexiest thing, like, ‘Hey, you want to go to therapy? Let’s go to therapy.’ Being so down with your person to put in the work for each other and individually, it’s a very new kind of love for me.”

Three months later, Ballerini spoke exclusively to Us Weekly about a shift in her relationship with Stokes.
“You do [challenge each other], or it’s boring and then you’re stagnant and then that’s not going to work out,” she said in July. “I think we’re two and a half years in, so [the relationship] looks a lot different now than it did in the beginning.”
She added, “I don’t know, I think we’re really similar — and in the ways that we’re different, that’s where we challenge each other. … I just want all the good things in the world for him.”
Prior to their two-year romance, the pair had headline-making relationships with other celebrities. Ballerini was married to fellow country singer Morgan Evans from 2017 to 2022, while Stokes dated his Outer Banks costar Madelyn Cline from 2020 to 2021.
