Kelsey Grammer has revealed he is now a dad of eight as his wife gave birth to a baby boy this month.
The 70-year-old actor and Kayte Walsh, who are already parents to 12-year-old Faith, 10-year-old Gabriel and eight-year-old James, have welcomed their fourth child together.
Kelsey revealed the news in the October 27 episode of the Pod Meets World podcast, hosted by Danielle Fishel, Will Friedle and Rider Strong.
The Frasier star said his new baby’s name is Christopher. Kelsey made the revelation while talking about his memoir Karen: A Brother Remembers, which he worote in memory of his late sister.
He said he and movie producer Kayte, 46, “just had our fourth one, so it just became eight kids.”
“It was like three days ago,” Kelsey said. “Christopher that’s just joined the family.”
The actor also shares 41-year-old daughter Spencer with his first wife Doreen Alderman, 33-year-old daughter Greer with ex Barrie Buckner as well as 23-year-old daughter Mason and 20-year-old son Jude with his ex Camille Grammer.
News that Kelsey and his wife were expecting a new child first broke in June after the couple were seen strolling through a park in London with her baby bump on show.
Earlier this year, the dad-of-eight confessed that he’s been “playing catch up with some of the older ones,” since having his children with Kayte.
Speaking to People, he said, “I have neglected a couple of the kids in my life, especially the first two. I’m trying to make up for a little of it now. I’m still their dad, so you can always have a chance to show up.”
The actor further expressed that he feels he “should have been a little more clear and maybe less tolerant with the older ones” explaining, “I’m pretty tolerant with the young ones, but I’m clear about how there’s certain expectations and certain ways to navigate through a social situation: keep it close to the vest and play it straight, and you’re going to be well-served in your life.
“I’m a little more specific with them about doing their studies and being prepared. [I tell them], ‘What’s your job in life? Showing up.'”
In his memoir about his late sister, Kelsey recounted the tragic final moments of Karen pleading for help after she was raped and stabbed 42 times.
Karen was just 18 when she was brutally attacked and murdered by a man on a killing spree in Colorado.
In his new book, the actor revisited the life-altering moment. On July 8, 1975, a 20-year-old Kelsey was at home with family in Pompano Beach, Florida, when detectives informed him they had discovered the body of a woman believed to be his sister Karen.
Upon flying to Colorado, Kelsey identified his sister and learned she had been savagely raped and stabbed to death on July 1, two weeks shy of her 19th birthday.
