I’ve been a Kenny Chesney fan since he first burst onto country radio with “All I Need to Know” back in the mid-’90s. So when Kenny announces a new album, I’m paying attention.
Fast forward to a couple of days ago…
I was headed to see HARDY, Muscadine Bloodline and McCoy Moore at BankNH Pavilion in Gilford. If you’ve ever made that drive up Weirs Road along Lake Winnipesaukee, you know how easy it is to get distracted by the scenery.
Then I passed a sign that caught my eye: Silver Sands Marina.
I remember thinking, “Why do I know that name? I’ve never been here before.”
I couldn’t place it.
Later that night, backstage, I was talking with McCoy Moore when he casually mentioned that one of his friends had written the title song… for Kenny Chesney’s brand-new album, “Silver Sands Marina.”
Ding.
That was it.
Just days earlier, Kenny had announced his 21st studio album, “Silver Sands Marina,” due out this fall.
Suddenly, the marina I’d driven past on the shores of Lake Winnipesaukee wasn’t just another New Hampshire landmark; it was the inspiration behind Kenny Chesney’s newest project.
Check out the video here:
Even cooler? The song wasn’t written during some Nashville writing session.
Songwriters Johnny Clawson and Kyle Sturrock were riding bicycles around Lake Winnipesaukee when they stumbled across Silver Sands Marina and the Silver Sands Hotel. The place made such an impression that they couldn’t stop thinking about it.
Johnny later shared on Instagram:
“It was the kinda place you couldn’t not write a song about. But when we did, we never expected Kenny freakin’ Chesney to hear it, much less record it.”
As someone who’s spent more than 30 years listening to Kenny Chesney, from “All I Need to Know” to today, I love that his latest album has a genuine New Hampshire connection.
It also feels fitting.

If you’ve ever spent a summer on Lake Winnipesaukee, you know few places capture that peaceful, nostalgic lake life better than Silver Sands Marina.
Apparently, two songwriters felt exactly the same way… and now the rest of the country gets to hear it.

Iconic Diners in New Hampshire
There’s just something about a diner… the coffee that never stops coming, the same booth people have probably been sitting in for 30 years, and a breakfast that somehow hits every single time.
As I’ve been getting to know New Hampshire, one thing became very clear — this state LOVES its diners. And not just any diners… we’re talking iconic, been-here-forever, locals-swear-by-it kind of places.
So I went down the rabbit hole (and got very hungry in the process) and pulled together some of the most iconic diners across the Granite State.
Did we get your favorite? Or are you already mad we missed one? 😅
