LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — A new music festival is staking its claim in the heart of the Bluegrass.
Houndstock debuts in May, positioning itself as more than a traditional music festival by spotlighting Kentucky artists who push the boundaries of blues, folk, soul, and Americana.
Situated downtown at Lexington’s new Gatton Park, the festival brings a family-friendly weekend of barbecue, spirits, and sound rooted in Kentucky soil.
Organizers boast that the debut lineup brings together a mix of boundary‑pushing acts, blues and folk mainstays, emerging songwriters, and indie and alt‑country artists, including:
- Bedford
- Bee Taylor
- Cait Justice
- Corduroy Brown
- Dennis and Bryan Himes Experience
- Emma Hansman
- Eric Bolander
- Lance Rodgers
- Lexington Philharmonic String Quartet
- Mash Grass
- Samuel James
- Stoll Vaughan
- Sydney Adams
- The Dead Air
- Tee Dee Young
- Treyvon King Band
The festival will kick off at 5 p.m. on Friday, May 15, and pick back up at noon on Saturday, May 16.
In a deliberate nod to Lexington’s music ecosystem, Houndstock’s main stage at Gatton Park will shut down at 9 p.m., pushing fans toward local venues to keep the night and the music going.
On May 15, Kentucky native SG Goodman and Lexington’s Abby Hamilton will perform on The Burl’s outdoor stage, while Grammy Award winner Molly Tuttle will close out the weekend there on May 16.
Houndstock is produced through a partnership between HoundFM, Smiley Pete Publishing, and creative agency COOMER—a collaboration organizers say is designed to extend artists’ visibility beyond the festival stage.
“Roots run deep here,” festival organizers wrote.
