Kerry Washington chose one of designer Thom Browne‘s playful, preppy looks for the Big Brothers Big Sisters 2025 Big Night Out gala in Los Angeles on Wednesday night.
The “Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery” actress opted for a piece from the American fashion label’s 2026 resort collection, featuring a throwback to preppy and sporty sensibilities with a 1960s spin. The navy minidress featured a subtle black pinstripe motif, complete with long sleeves with exposed white cuffs at the end.

At the neckline of Washington’s frock, a white shirt with a coordinated navy and black pinstripe tie featured, with a clip in gold and the red, white and blue vertical stripe motif synonymous with Browne’s eponymous brand.
The minidress featured a relatively loose fit, harkening back to a 1960s silhouette. Gold buttons ran parallel down the front of the dress, and a white pocket square was added for further sophistication. Washington paired the dress with a pair of Calzedonia 8 Denier resistant sheer tights in black and wore black mary jane heels to complete her attire.

Her glam continued the subtle ’60s motif, with her hair slicked back into a high ponytail and makeup featuring bold brows, lined eyes and a glossy lip. Washington frequently works with styling team Rob Zangardi and Mariel Haenn.
Washington is a longtime supporter of Thom Browne and frequent front row runway show attendee. Her look debuted along with the rest of the 2026 resort collection during New York Fashion Week in June. The collection’s launch coincided with the 10th anniversary of the designer’s Hector handbag, the dog-shaped accessory Browne introduced to pay homage to his dachshund of the same name.

Though the Hector motif strewn throughout the collection in accessories and embroideries, the “women’s resort collection stemmed from reemphasizing the idea of American preppy tailoring — where Browne’s collections consistently star and what customers come to him for,” Emily Mercer wrote in WWD’s review of the collection.
“Like his latest pre-collections, his designs had a more youthful, layered element that didn’t sacrifice his distinct tailored look,” Mercer wrote.
