Embroiled actor Kevin Spacey has revealed that he is now homeless.
Spacey said in a recent interview with The Telegraph that he lost his house “because the costs over these last seven years have been astronomical,” adding, “I’ve had very little coming in and everything going out.”
Spacey is an Oscar winner who once was one of the biggest stars in Hollywood thanks to films such as “L.A. Confidential,” “The Usual Suspects” and “Se7en.” His career was derailed in 2017 when he was accused of sexual assault by several men between 2001 and 2013.
A London jury acquitted Spacey in 2023 and, in 2022, he was found not liable in a civil lawsuit, according to Entertainment Weekly.
However, the jury’s verdict did not revive his Hollywood career and he tells The Telegraph that he was near bankruptcy and was forced to sell his home in Baltimore.
“I’m living in hotels, I’m living in Airbnbs, I’m going where the work is,” Spacey told the outlet. “I literally have no home, that’s what I’m attempting to explain.”
The Golden Globe winner added, “You get through it. In weird ways, I feel I’m back to where I first started, which is I just went where the work was. Everything is in storage, and I hope at some point, if things continue to improve, that I’ll be able to decide where I want to settle down again.”
He added that he believes the public still supports him, even if Hollywood doesn’t. But he also admits to making mistakes in the past.
“Why was I such a good villain, why did I fit so well into a narrative that was out there?” Spacey said. “And some of those were important questions for me to ask, to take accountability for where I made mistakes.
“I suppose when I look back, I wish I had spoken out sooner and allowed my voice to be heard more,” he said. “Even though I tried not to be a jerk, I think that to some degree I always was a jerk, because people were stopping and I always had somewhere to go, and I think I was always putting people in lanes — he wants this, she wants that, something from me. But now my relationship with fame is very much changed.”
EW noted Spacey has been working on smaller movie productions and also has a variety show in Cyprus.
