Country star Kid Rock has broken his silence after a U.S. Army investigation was launched after two military helicopters were filmed flying low near his home.

In a statement to Nashville news station WKRN, the 55-year-old singer said he believes the pilots will be cleared, referencing his friendship with President Donald Trump. He said, “I think they’re going to be alright — my buddy is the Commander-in-Chief. Kid Rock went on to joke, “What are they looking into? They stopped for I don’t know seconds – a minute – they were maybe here for three, four minutes, said what’s up and then moved on.”

On Saturday, March 28, the All Summer Long hitmaker was hit with a wave of hate after he shared a video on Instagram showcasing two military helicopter hovers flying near his Nashville residence. In the clip, Kid Rock is seen standing in the front of his outdoor swimming pool clapping and pumping his fist as the two AH-64 Apache attack helicopters flew overhead.

Along with the video, he captioned, “This is a level of respect that shit for brains Governor of California will never know. God Bless America and all those who have made the ultimate sacrifice to defend her.”

Since posting the video, the U.S. Army has launched an investigation aiming to determine whether or not the low-altitude flight path violated safely regulations and military policy.

Speaking on the investigation, Army spokesman Maj Montrell Russell said, “An administrative review is underway to assess the mission and verify compliance with regulations and airspace requirements. Appropriate action will be taken if any violations are found.”

According to reports by BBC, Maj Jonathon Bless, a spokesman for the Army’s 101st Airborne Division at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, also spoke out on the issue. He shared, “We take all concerns regarding aircraft operations and their impact on the surrounding community seriously.”

Critics called the performative stunt a misuse of tax dollars, with many expressing anger that military equipment, fuel, and personnel were used for a private, theatrical display. The stunt has also raised concerns about the military appearing partisan, particularly as it occurred on the same day as anti-Trump ‘No Kings’ protests.

Under the Picture hitmaker’s post on X, many users shared their outrage over the display. One person asked, “Is this what the taxpayer money gets them? Ego boosts for orange nosed suck ups? Cool.”

Another critic wrote, “Please tell me how standing in your shorts, being all giddy about a Black Hawk in front of your house, is any sign of respect? Please remind me where you served? If you want to salvage your career, stop making cringe videos.”

While a third person sarcastically chimed in, “Nothing shows respect for our military like having them do a fly-by at your pool with two Apaches so you can wave and post on social media. (Operating expense is $5000 per hour, per aircraft, PLUS the crew’s time and pay).”

And someone else questioned, “Who wasted thousands of dollars in fuel, maintenance and wages to go hover by his pool?”

The Daily Express US has reached out to a Kid Rock representative for comment.
