Turning Point USA’s All-American Halftime Show – a counter-programming effort to Bad Bunny‘s halftime show at the Super Bowl – has been ripped for its headliner, Kid Rock, following his appearance on stage.
After he was announced as the event’s star performer, Kid Rock came under fire for his resurfaced 2001 song “Cool, Daddy Cool,” which contains the lyric, “Young ladies, young ladies, I like ’em underage / See, some say that’s statutory / But I say it’s mandatory.”
Along with the lyric, a clip of Kid Rock from a 2001 appearance on Saturday Night Live sparked controversy, as it shows him making an inappropriate joke about the then-14-year-old Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen.
