Kim Kardashian may not have made it very far on her season of Dancing with the Stars, but it wasn’t for lack of trying.
While chatting on her sisterKhloé Kardashian’s podcast, ‘Khloé in Wonderland’ this week, the reality star got to talking about how she would strategically seek out attention from paparazzi in her early days of fame, and used her tactics to get DWTS votes.
“We wanted people to vote for me so we made ‘Vote for Kim’ t-shirts and we’d walk down Robertson [Boulevard], so people see us,” she said. “You knew where they were so you would just go.”
“And be desperate,” Khloe replied.
“Totally,” Kim agreed.
Kim competed on Season 7 of the longtime running ballroom dance competition show and was partnered with Mark Ballas. She was third to be eliminated.
While the Skims founder’s fame has skyrocketed exponentially since the her days of staging paparazzi pics, with her family‘s show Keeping Up With the Kardashians on E! evolving into The Kardashians on Hulu, her multiple business ventures, and a foray into acting, she’s still aware that her DWTS days weren’t her best.
“I’m traumatized,” she told Ellen DeGenerous during an appearance on the comedian’s talk show in 2010. “I got kicked off really soon in the show, I’ll never dance again.”
Years later she commented on the experience again after she was seen showing off some dance moves with industry agent Cade Hudson, at Khloé’s 40th birthday party in 2024, which she credited to alcohol.
“So apparently I was doing this multiple times til we shut the party down,” Kim shared in a video, per People. “Damn I wish someone told me to have some shots before ‘Dancing W The Stars’ and I might have lasted a bit longer @cadehudson22.”

Kim and Khloé’s brother Rob Kardashian, had a much more positive experience when he competed on the show in Season 13. He was partnered with Cheryle Burke and finished in second place.
In a 2011 interview with E! he shared perhaps why his sister didn’t fare as well as he did in the competition.
“My sister’s not real competitive, so I don’t think this competition is really for her,” he said. “I’m competitive. It’s a good fit for me.”
