King Charles called out for his handling of his “disgraced” brother Andrew, with an expert saying the former duke has only been “pseudo-stripped” of his titles over renewed scrutiny on his ties to Jeffrey Epstein.
According to The Mirror, royal commentator Afua Acheampong-Hagan said Andrew was moved to Sandringham after being told to vacate the Royal Lodge rather than fully held accountable.
As more Epstein files come to light, Acheampong-Hagan said the royal family may have few options left to distance themselves from Andrew, especially after Prime Minister Keir Starmer suggested he should testify before the US Congress.
“That’s the question, what more can you do to distance yourself from this story,” said said of King Charles. “He’s pseudo-stripped Andrew of his titles, he’s exiling him to the Sandringham Estate.
She continued, “The next step would perhaps be for the King to make some sort of statement about this.
“The statement we got from Buckingham Palace when we were told that Andrew was moving out of Royal Lodge, when they said we stand survivors of any kind of violence, gave us a hint of what quote unquote side they were on.
“I think Andrew as this progresses, there is going to have to be a point where the Royal Family do say more, because this is someone who is within their ranks, who was protected by the family, and someone who is still going to be living off – we know it’s the King’s private funding and his private wealth – but he is still going to be associated with the Royal Family.
“Maybe there does come a point where they need to be able to say actually we want some more accountability, or we are sorry for the fact that we protected someone for so long. I think perhaps there is going to be a point where the Royal Family are going to have to do more.”
