King Charles hits ‘new low point’ forcing him to strip Andrew’s privileges – Royals – News

King Charles was out for a walkabout when he was heckled by an onlooker, which one royal expert deemed a new low point for the monarch.

Charles was outside Lichfield Cathedral in Staffordshire, England, when a member of the crowd yelled at him, “How long have you known about Andrew and Epstein? Have you asked the police to cover up for Andrew?”

Typically, Charles is met by well-wishers, but this wasn’t your typical crowd member; it’s believed the man shouting at the King was a part of the anti-monarchy group known as the Republic.

Charles paid no attention to the man’s demands for answers, but those around him did speak up, telling the protester to “shut up” and “go away.”

Charles took the high road by not addressing the man, but according to Pauline Maclaran, royal author and professor at Royal Holloway, it appears it may have gotten to him that it was time for him to make a hard decision.

Prior to Andrew being stripped of all signs of royalty, he agreed to stop using his dukedom, which created public unrest, but it wasn’t enough.

We asked Maclaran if this played a role in the latest turn of events, in which she spoke to us about.

She said, “Yes, definitely. Initially, it was allowing Andrew to keep some sense of dignity by appearing to relinquish his titles on a voluntary basis, although it was widely recognized that pressure had been put on him.

“However, this did not appease the public as much as the King would have wished and there were many voices saying the King needed to show his censorship of Andrew and take a clearer stance.

“And then, the King was heckled about Andrew on a walkabout which was a new low point.”
