King Charles resurfaces for a fourth day at Ascot amid shock Prince Harry reports

The King and Queen enjoyed a very sunny day at Royal Ascot on Friday as they attended day four of the esteemed racing festival on Friday.

Charles, 77, and Camilla, 78, led the way in the front carriage of the traditional procession as they marked their fourth day in a row at the racecourse.

Wearing a suit despite soaring temperatures and highs of 28C, the King appeared in bright spirits as he waved from the carriage while the National Anthem played.

The outing comes as it was revealed that Prince Harry is set to bring his wife, Meghan Markle, and their two children, Prince Archie, seven, and Princess Lilibet, five, to the UK next month for his Invictus Games events.

It’s currently unclear what their security arrangements will be, though The Sun has reported that King Charles has offered to help cover the family’s first joint trip to the UK in four years. This has not been officially confirmed, however.

King Charles and Queen Camilla led the carriage procession, joined by Prince Saud bin Khalid bin Abdullah bin Abdulrahman Al Said, a prominent Saudi royal businessman close to the King through horse racing.

Camilla, 78, was wearing light blue, channelling the Princess of Wales’s Trooping the Colour outfit.

King Charles looked dashing in a top hat, adding a pop of colour with a yellow waistcoat.

Also in the first carriage was John Warren, the late Queen Elizabeth’s beloved racing manager.

Andrew Lloyd Webber

In the second carriage was the Earl and Countess of Caledon, alongside Andrew Lloyd Webber, 78, and his wife, Lady Madeleine Lloyd Webber.

Lord Richard Benyon

Lord Benyon, who is Lord Chamberlain and effectively head of the royal household, and General Sir Roly Walker, who is the professional head of the British Army, were also present for Armed Forces Day.

Richard Benyon, the Lord Chamberlain of the Royal Household, paid a visit to Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor in March, following his arrest in February.

He spent around two hours at Andrew’s temporary residence, Wood Farm Cottage, before driving out of the estate.

Other royal attendees on Friday included Zara Tindall, who opted for a monochrome polka dot ensemble, with a matching hat with large pearl detailing.

James, Earl of Wessex

James, Earl of Wessex, 18, joined his mother Duchess Sophie for a rare public appearance.

He did not appear to be joined by his older sister, Lady Louise Windsor, 22.

Queen Camilla’s Equerry, Major Rob Treasure, and King Charles III’s Equerry, Major Ben Rigby, looked sharp for day four of Ascot.

Getting warmed up

The King and Queen are both huge fans of horse racing, having also attended the Epsom Derby earlier this month.

On Tuesday, they were left disappointed, however, as their horse failed to win its race.
