Fans in the UK are looking forward to the next season of Strictly Come Dancing.
The show, which previously spawned the U.S. version Dancing with the Stars, is preparing to resume in September on BBC One. On June 19, @bbcstrictly’s official social media channels announced that Chris Appleton will join the cast for 2026.
More specifically, the world renowned celebrity hairstylist is famous for his attention to detail and creative vision. The ex-husband of American actor Lukas Gage, Chris has styled some of the biggest names in music, entertainment and fashion.
The Strictly Come Dancing cast for 2026 includes Chris Appleton
In a video posted to Instagram by @bbcstrictly and BBC, producers announced their newest ballroom contestant. “He’s worked behind the scenes with some of the world’s biggest stars,” they wrote. “Now it’s @chrisappleton1’s turn to take [center] stage. Welcome to the #Strictly ballroom, Chris.”
In addition to his work as a globally recognized hairstylist, Chris is also a New York Times bestselling author. In his book Your Roots Don’t Define You, he shared his personal journey with mental health, dyslexia and coming out as a gay man.
As a hairstylist, Chris is especially known for his signature polished looks: sleek, glassy hair and voluminous ponytails. His celebrity clients include Jennifer Lopez, Kim Kardashian, Sofía Vergara, Ariana Grande, and Katy Perry.
Furthermore, his hairstyles have been featured on magazine covers such as Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Vanity Fair and others.
For his part, Chris shared, “I’m thrilled to be … coming home to the UK for this incredible experience.”
Finally, he added, “The best things happen when you take a chance and try something new. I may know my way around a salon floor, but the dance floor is a whole different story … I can’t wait to get started.”
Names of Strictly Come Dancing’s additional contestants will be shared throughout the summer.
Strictly Come Dancing will start in the UK later this year on BBC One.
