Bunnie Xo is ready to shine a light on what went wrong in her nearly 10-year marriage to Jelly Roll.
“My family was always so important to me, and when I said those vows with him, I really meant them,” Bunnie, 46, shared on the Thursday, June 18, episode of the “Dumb Blonde” podcast. “J was my third marriage, and obviously, I’m not f***ing good at marriage. F***ing three strikes you’re out, bitch. Listen, I can admit when I’m not good at something, and marriage just probably isn’t it.”
Jelly Roll, 41, quietly submitted a divorce petition to a Tennessee court on May 18. News of the split, however, didn’t go public until Monday, June 15.
While breaking her silence on the split, Bunnie explained what led to the rapper’s decision to officially end the marriage.
“On Mother’s Day, we had a little bit of an argument, which I don’t think the details are necessary. I was so fed up and so tired that I just looked at him and I said, ‘Well, then file the f***ing divorce papers,’” she claimed. “And in our relationship, that is the one cardinal thing that you don’t say. Even though my husband has said it numerous times ‘cause he’s the runner.”
The pair didn’t talk for a week. Ultimately, the “Need a Favor” singer decided it was time to take legal steps to end his marriage.
“During that, he was so mad and we were so emotional that he ended up doing exactly what I told him to do and filing the divorce papers. Was I blindsided? And was this divorce mutual? No, it was not mutual,” she claimed. “Even though I told him to file the divorce papers, I was speaking out of anger and just frustration.”

Bunnie continued, “He’s my best friend. I don’t care how f***ed up our relationship was, which it wasn’t that f***ed up. I don’t care how much we didn’t communicate or how things shook out. I was riding with this motherf***er till the wheels fell off. I didn’t care. I felt like we deserved a chance to go to therapy and figure s*** out. He didn’t feel that way and I respect it. It took me a month and a half now to respect that. But I’m so happy. So, so, so happy.”
During his New York concert on Thursday, Jelly Roll broke his silence on the split. The musician told the audience that he will always be “best friends” with Bunnie and said “every word” of her latest podcast is true.
“Nobody cheated on nobody,” he added. “That will be my best friend forever. This is the only time I will ever speak about it.”
Elsewhere in her podcast, Bunnie shared some insight into her communication skills with Jelly Roll. She admitted the pair were never good at having disagreements.
“We were the type of couple who never argued. So, he would be holding things in. I would be holding things in, and that’s a recipe for disaster,” she claimed. “We always preach you gotta be comfortable having the uncomfortable conversations, and we did that for eight years in. Then the past year and a half, we kind of got away from that because we’re in a different life right now.”
Bunnie claimed that her estranged husband is “dating” again and she’s “happy for him.” The podcast host, however, said she herself is excited to “discover myself single” and remain in a good place with Jelly Roll.
“I joke around with him. I’m like, ‘Well, you didn’t take care of me in the marriage, but you’re taking care of me in the divorce,’” she said. “We stan a f***ing king. I’m allowed to say that because it’s true.”
