Anne Hathaway announced her third pregnancy on Instagram with a video revealing her baby bump
She previously spoke with PEOPLE about sharing her pregnancies online after being photographed
Hathaway told PEOPLE that she preferred the news to come directly from her
Anne Hathaway recalled how she announced her previous two pregnancies on social media in a recent interview with PEOPLE.
The Odyssey star, 43, who announced on Friday, June 19, that she is currently pregnant with her third baby, spoke with PEOPLE this past April for our World’s Most Beautiful cover. At the time, the proud mom remembered how she shared her previous two pregnancies on Instagram after she was photographed in the street.
“Basically, I saw someone was taking photos of me and I think at that point, people kind of knew I was pregnant,” Hathaway told PEOPLE. “I think there were some street shots where you’re just like, ‘Eh, just had a big meal.’ But I was just like, ‘Ok, this is going to happen now.’ “

“And I remember talking to Adam about it and I was like, ‘Maybe this is a good use for social media,’ ” she continued, referring to her husband Adam Shulman. “If it’s going to happen anyway, maybe I can put something out that feels more personal and that comes from me as opposed to it having to be this thing that happens outside of me.”
“And so yeah, that was one of the first times that I ever realized that, I don’t know, I got to make the announcement myself. It was really, really cool.”
Hathaway, who is already mom to sons Jonathan, 10, and Jack, 6, went on to say that she felt “really lucky” to have become a mom.
“I know that not everybody who wants to be a mom gets to be, or a parent gets to be,” she said. “And I’m just blown away by how fortunate I am. I just got emotional taking a look at that to realize that it went really well for me twice. And that’s really lucky.”
Hathaway announced the news of her third pregnancy in a video on her Instagram. Wearing a flowy white dress, Hathaway walked into the frame with her arms in front of her stomach.
As the song “Baby I’m Yours” by Barbara Lewis plays, Hathaway dropped her arms to reveal her growing bump. She smiled, hugged her stomach and then ran out of frame. “x Baby, I’m yours x,” she captioned the post.
In March 2022, Hathaway shared that she didn’t feel “fully here” until she became a mom.
“I didn’t feel fully landed and fully here until I was a mom,” Hathaway told WSJ Magazine at the time. “It’s not like I was lacking integrity, but it made me want to be completely, on every level, true to my word.”
She added, “And that meant stopping any nonsense that I had going on inside myself. And it’s little breaks that you give yourself sometimes when you know that you’re not being your best self.”
