At the garden party, King Charles and Queen Camilla were introduced to a number of people, with around 650 guests present.
One guest the King spent time with was UK Olympic diver Tom Daley, who now lives in the US with his family.
In a chat with the Olympian, King Charles revealed that he tried knitting when he was younger, but is considering returning to the popular hobby.
Tom said: “He (King Charles) said he tried knitting when he was eight and he wasn’t very good.”
He continued: “But he said he might pick it back up — he knows it’s very good for mental health.
“I want to try and get it back into the school curriculum, and maybe he can help me do that.”
King Charles has a busy few days ahead, with the US state visit seeing Their Majesties spend time in Washington DC, New York and Virginia.
At the end of the state visit on April 30, the King will fly to Bermuda alone for two days of engagements. Queen Camilla will not accompany her husband to Bermuda.
