Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie have been permitted to take on new Royal roles – following a “secret deal” between their father Prince Andrew and King Charles.
While the monarch ultimately agreed to remove Andrew, 65, from Royal Lodge, it was determined both Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie would retain their titles.
Their controversial father can no longer use his prince title, however, and has essentially been excluded from Royal duties.
Charles is understood to have reached this conclusion after striking “a secret deal” with his brother.
This has seemingly enhanced Beatrice and Eugenie’s standing, as Beatrice, 37, was named this week as the new Deputy Patron of charity Outward Bound, which maintains strong connections with The Firm.
Prince Philip had served as Outward Bound’s leader for 65 years until his younger son, the then Prince Andrew, assumed the role as patron of the organization.
It utilizes “wild adventure to help young people realise their potential through learning, challenge and discovery in the outdoors”.
Martin Davidson, the chief executive, said: “With the Duke of Edinburgh and Princess Beatrice working alongside us, we’re embarking on a new chapter.
“One where every young person has the chance to test their limits, build confidence and discover that anything is possible.
“Their support reflects a shared belief that adventure changes lives.”, reports The Mirror.
The new role for Princess Beatrice, the mother of two, has been confirmed after she and her sister escaped repercussions following their father’s disgrace.
Daily Mail journalist Richard Eden reported in today’s edition that this arrangement came about after Charles and Andrew reached “a secret deal” aimed at protecting the women.
Even their mother, Sarah Ferguson, was impacted by the fallout. The 66 year old must now secure her own residence and employment following Andrew’s removal from Royal duties.
The outlook for Sarah, who can no longer use the title Duchess of York, appears grim compared to her daughter’s opportunities, and she is now reportedly considering relocating to Portugal.
Beatrice toured Chelsea and Westminster Hospital on Monday to visit the charity Borne’s research laboratories and gain insight into the organization’s efforts to prevent premature birth.
Beatrice’s own daughter, Athena, was delivered prematurely at the hospital in west London, and the princess serves as a patron of Borne.
The princesses have joined Andrew and Sarah Ferguson on trips across the globe and have occasionally become entangled in the couple’s scandals.
In 2006, for example, Andrew brought his associate, the late financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, to Beatrice’s 18th-birthday celebration.
