Taking to X, the King wrote: “Wishing Sir David Attenborough a very happy 100th birthday.” He then followed up with a six-word message that read: “Enjoy your special celebration this evening!”
The King then encouraged fans to tune in to ‘David Attenborough’s 100 Years on Planet Earth’ on BBC1 tonight at 8.30pm.
The post also featured three pictures – one of a smiling Sir David and the second showed him with a young then-Prince Charles and Princess Anne.
The last one showed him speaking to King Charles in later years.
As well as a message from the King, Prince Harry also heaped praise on Sir David in a sweet message.
Harry, who stepped down from royal life in 2020, described Sir David as a “institutional pillar as essential to the national fabric as a cup of tea”.
He wrote: “Attenborough’s measured demeanor and lack of any conceivable agenda mean that the alarm bells he sounds signify all the more urgency.
“When a man who has quite literally seen it all begins to describe the loss of the planet’s stability, he isn’t being provocative. He is reporting from the front lines of a planet he has known longer, and more intimately, than almost anyone alive.”
