King Charles’s “most loved” plants will be put on display in a garden he is co-designing for the new Sandringham Flower Show.
The monarch, who is known for his love of gardening, will be collaborating with Catherine MacDonald, an award-winning garden designer, to create a bespoke outdoor space for the event in July.
The area will be the centrepiece of the new Royal Horticultural Society Sandringham Flower Show, the first RHS show to be held at Sandringham.
Ms Macdonald said: “It is an honour to be collaborating with His Majesty The King on the design for this garden that will be a centrepiece of the first RHS Sandringham Flower Show.

“We are in the early stages, but I am finding the process inspiring and looking forward to including some of His Majesty’s ideas and most-loved plants for visitors to enjoy.”
The decision to host a show at Sandringham is due to the King’s desire to broadcast the estate’s horticultural history to a wider audience.
The show take places between July 22 and 28, with tickets starting at £38.
The garden is expected to feature a “bold” colour scheme, and is likely to feature delphiniums, a known favourite of Charles, as well as acers, magnolias and roses.
Built by Gadd Brothers Trees & Landscapes, it is hoped that the space will provide a “welcome place to rest and contemplate”, as well as promote biodiversity.
The show will feature two new awards from King Charles and Queen Camilla, including the King’s favourite exhibit for biodiversity and the Queen’s favourite Upcycled Container.

Camilla’s prize will be awarded to the community, which repurposes discarded materials to create a mini container garden.
The show is planned to be in 2029 as the charity has committed to showcasing once every three years.
The King and Queen usually attended the annual Sandringham Flower Show, held on the private grounds of his Norfolk Estate.
The show attracts around 20,000 visitors each year, showcasing the horticultural skills of leading designers.
The event is a tradition set by Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother, who attended for 60 years.
Charles and Camilla have attended the event annually since 2005.

King Charles has been keen to encourage the next generation to learn in and from nature, and has made courses available at The King’s Foundation’s Dumfries House in Scotland.
He also recently spoke on about his “passion for topiary,” saying we should “always [be] putting something back into nature in return for what we take out.”
