Separately, the Princess Royal will officially open the Queen Elizabeth II Garden in Regent’s Park. The two‐acre space is described as a “tranquil, fully accessible place for reflection in the heart of London”.
Opening to the public on April 27, it includes a circular pond to support wildlife, a flower garden planted with species significant to the late Queen and climate‐resilient planting.
In the afternoon, the King and Queen, joined by the Royal family, will host a reception in the Marble Hall of Buckingham Palace.
Guests will include representatives from a selection of Elizabeth II’s patronages, including Cancer Research UK, British Red Cross Society, Jockey Club, Royal Kennel Club and the Army Benevolent Fund.
The VIP guest list is led by the centenarians who are celebrating their 100th birthdays on April 21.
