The season begins with the City of Scotts Valley’s Fourth of July Block Party, where Kiwanis will participate by hosting the band Tsunami and operating a drinks booth. Organizers hope the event will draw hundreds of local families together for food, entertainment and celebration.

Kiwanis will return July 25 with its annual Motorcycle Show at Scotts Valley High School. Open to motorcycle enthusiasts and the public, the event attracts riders and spectators from throughout the region to view custom motorcycles, vintage models and other featured bikes. The show has become a longstanding summer tradition in the community.

The club will conclude its summer events with Music at Skypark on Aug. 30, featuring live performances by Sweet Voodoo and Extra Large. The free outdoor concert is open to all ages and offers an afternoon of live music at Skypark.

Kiwanis youth organizations are also planning activities for the fall. Key Clubs at Scotts Valley and San Lorenzo Valley high schools are organizing a community event scheduled for Sept. 28 at Skypark. The event is being planned and led by student members, with additional details expected in the coming weeks.

Meanwhile, the UC Santa Cruz Circle K Club, the university affiliate of Kiwanis International, has logged nearly 1,000 hours of community service throughout the greater Santa Cruz area. Members have participated in volunteer projects and outreach efforts aimed at serving local residents.

“The Kiwanis Club of Scotts Valley exists to serve this community, and this season we have more opportunities than ever to do just that. Whether it’s celebrating the Fourth of July together, cheering on live music at Skypark or watching our Key Club and Circle K students lead the way—it gives you real pride and hope for the future of Scotts Valley,” said Frank Cheap, president of the Kiwanis Club of Scotts Valley.
