“KPop Demon Hunters” keeps slaying the charts, seemingly setting new records every week.
During the week of Sept. 22-28, the animated musical fantasy notched its 15th straight week on Netflix’s Top 10, making it the longest-running title ever on the English-language films chart.
The previous record belonged to “Red Notice,” which appeared 14 times total, but not consecutively. That film held a 12-week streak, dropped off, and later reentered the chart for two additional weeks, per Variety.
“KPop Demon Hunters” has spent eight of its 15 weeks at No. 1 and the other seven at No. 2, never falling below second place, Variety noted.
The film also topped Netflix’s global top 10 most popular movies of all time list with 325.1 million views within its first 91 days — the only animated title in the ranking’s top 10. Even in its 15th week, it still pulled in 19.3 million views, nearly doubling second-place debut film “Ruth & Boaz” at 10.3 million.

“KPop Demon Hunters” owes its record-breaking success to the powerhouse team bringing it to life. Directors Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans fused exciting action with a little K-pop flair, creating an animated world. Voice actors Arden Cho (Rumi), May Hong (Mira) and Ji-young Yoo (Zoey) inject their characters with personality.
On the music side, Grammy-winning producers Lindgren and TEDDY of The Black Label, along with executive music producer Ian Eisendrath, crafted a soundtrack that’s climbing real-world charts alongside the film, per Tudum by Netflix.
Hit song continues its ‘Golden’ run
The fictional K-pop band HUNTR/X is also climbing in the real world. Its breakout single, “Golden” just marked a seventh consecutive week on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming one of the 10 longest-running No. 1 hits from a movie in the chart’s 67-year history.
Fans will soon get to see the film’s vocal stars — EJAE, Audrey Nuna and Rei Ami — perform live for the first time. They’re scheduled to appear on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” on Oct. 7, the band’s first-ever live televised performance.
“KPop Demon Hunters” is now being floated as a potential Oscar contender in multiple categories, which could make it the first anime film to land nominations across several fields, according to Variety.
