The Frozen voice actor has faced immense backlash after followers accused her of joking about domestic violence on her wedding anniversary
Kristen Bell has allegedly doubled down on her “tone deaf” anniversary post celebrating 12 years of marriage to her husband, Dax Shepard.
The Good Place actor sparked fierce criticism with a controversial Instagram post reading, “Happy 12th wedding anniversary to the man who once said to me: ‘I would never kill you. A lot of men have killed their wives at a certain point. Even though I’m heavily incentivised to kill you, I never would’.”
Kristen was quickly faced with backlash for her caption, particularly as her post was published during National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The actress was accused of making light of abuse through the post, with numerous followers labelling her “incredibly insensitive” in their responses.

But according to reports, 45-year-old Bell is doubling down on her remarks and the post – with condemning comments included – remains on her Instagram feed. One source, speaking to The Mail, Kristen believes there are “bigger problems in the world” than her Instagram post.
“Many would have liked her to apologize or to have taken down the post, but she hasn’t and the post is still there,” they said. “She doesn’t want to be told how to live her life or be bullied into doing something she doesn’t want to do.”
Bell appeared on the red carpet this week to promote the new season of Nobody Wants This, which was released on the streaming giant on Thursday, October 23. Body language expert Judi James believes the issue might have been playing on her mind during her outing in the Big Apple, suggesting Kristen seemed “tense.”
Judi said, “In her severe, uncompromising black outfit and beret, Kirsten seems to be presenting a very serious and subdued-looking image here, unsmiling and with a rather direct eye expression.
“Her red carpet pose is symmetric and simple with her arms hanging straight at her sides and her feet slightly splayed, with no apparent intention to smile or adopt a more camera-friendly pose. The simplicity of the pose suggests a directness of thinking, but it also implies a less than keen desire to showboat or do the usual celebrity body language rituals.”
Amid the controversy the actress skipped out an episode of the Today Show to promote the second season of the Netflix series. Kristen’s co-star, Justine Lupe, 36, attended the morning show solo.
Kristen and Dax got married in 2013, and share daughters, Lincoln and Delta. Earlier this year, after Kristen’s Emmy Award nomination for her performance in Nobody Wants This, Dax celebrated the accomplishment, sharing a revealing photo of his wife practicing yoga in the buff on social media.
