Kristin Cavallari dated social media star Mark Estes for seven months in 2024
On the May 26 episode of her podcast, Let’s Be Honest, she told Chelsea Handler about the facet of their relationship that “still pisses me off to this day”
Cavallari called Estes the “best boyfriend I’ve ever had” after their split
There’s one major regret Kristin Cavallari has from her relationship with ex Mark Estes.
Cavallari dated the now-26-year-old social media star for seven months in 2024, and on the Tuesday, May 26 episode of her podcast, Let’s Be Honest, she confessed that one thing about their relationship is still on her mind.
She asked her guest, Chelsea Handler, for her perspective on paying for men in a relationship, and they both agreed that it’s “ick” to have to pay. “It’s gross, right?” Cavallari, 39, said.
“You think you can do it, and that it’s OK, and then you’re like, I don’t respect you,” Handler added.
The topic then led Cavallari to claim that she was the one funding her relationship with Estes, who was 13 years her junior, and her regrets about that. “The younger guy that I dated, I paid for everything,” she told Handler. “And understandably so, he was 24.”

“That’s like the one thing that I look back and it, like, pisses me off that I paid … to [go to] Greece and, like, all these things,” Cavallari said. She and Estes spent a few days in Greece a month before their split.
“He took, like, half my Amex points, I’m like, f—er. It still pisses me off to this day,” she claimed.
A rep for Estes did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.
After the mom of three split from Estes, a source told PEOPLE that they were “heading in different directions,” but also acknowledged that “the age difference played a factor.”
In Cavallari’s words, they split because she knew “long-term it’s not right,” even though it was “the best relationship of my life” and “very healthy and very mature.” She also described him as “the best boyfriend I’ve ever had” on her podcast after the split.

Following their split, the Laguna Beach alum briefly dated a retired athlete, whom she later identified as Nate Thompson, and called their time together “the most honest, pure, amazing, quote-unquote ‘relationship’ I’ve ever had.” She has not been open about any other relationships since.
Estes, meanwhile, has been dating influencer Sommer Ray since June 2025.
