Once upon a time, a synth-punk band called L.O.T.I.O.N. went wild on the New York DIY underground, making apocalyptic music for an apocalyptic world, Then the world got more apocalyptic, and L.O.T.I.O.N. followed suit, changing their name to L.O.T.I.O.N. Multinational Corporation and veering into the realm of pounding industrial dance-freakout music with their 2022 album W.A.R. In The Digital Realm. Now, they’re about to follow that LP with another one that promises to be just as freaky, if not more.
Back in December, L.O.T.I.O.N. Multinational Corporation released “(It’s Our) Last Christmas,” a cheery holiday number about the end of the world. This spring, they’ll follow it with Machine Hallucinations, the new LP that they recorded with Uniform’s Ben Greenberg. Frontman and visual artist Alexander Heir did all the art for Machine Hallucinations, and the newly expanded L.O.T.I.O.N. lineup also includes veterans of bands like Warthog and Dollhouse. It’s got guest appearances from ex-Sepultura drummer Iggor Cavalera, LA band La Pregunta?, and Fairytale singer Lulu.
Today, L.O.T.I.O.N. Multinational Corporation share “Boots On The Ground,” a bugged-out new track that fuses hardcore punk and hardcore dance music into a seething new thing. They don’t represent the same scene or anything, but if you’ve been into the recent tracks from Fire-Toolz, you might like this one.
