Friday, February 20
- Mardi Gras Exhibit at the Lafayette Museum – Historic Home & Gardens: It’s Carnival Time in Lafayette as the Lafayette Museum Association presents an exquisite exhibition of Mardi Gras costumes worn by royalty of years past at the Lafayette Museum – Historic Home and Gardens, 1122 Lafayette St. Visitors can experience the pageantry of grand Mardi Gras balls, relive the family fun of festive parades and enjoy an up-close tour of the beautifully crafted royal costumes on display. The exhibit is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for students, seniors 65 and older, and military.
- 2026 Professional Firefighters Association of Louisiana: For more than 80 years, Louisiana’s firefighters have served their communities in efforts to save lives and protect property, and residents can show their support by contributing and receiving a supporter decal through the Professional Fire Fighters Association of Louisiana. While more than 4,000 firefighters are members of the organization, its programs benefit firefighters and residents statewide, helping make Louisiana a safer place to live and raise families. The public is invited to a party Friday, Feb. 20, at the DoubleTree Club 337, featuring live music by the 80’s Experience Band.
- 2026 SPE International Conference & Exhibition on Formation Damage Control: Int’l Symposium & Exhibition on Formation Damage Control. The event is at 1521 West Pinhook Rd.
- Candlelight: 90s Hip-Hop on Strings: The popular Candlelight Concerts series brings a live, multi-sensory musical experience to Lafayette with “90s Hip-Hop on Strings” at the Petroleum Club of Lafayette. Held under the glow of candlelight, the 60-minute performance will take place from 6 to 7:15 p.m., with doors opening one hour prior and no late entry permitted. The venue is ADA compliant, and seating is assigned on a first-come, first-served basis within each zone. Guests must be 8 or older to attend, and anyone under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Tickets are $44.69.
Saturday, Feb. 21
- “Pointe Noire” a Pat Mire Film: Cinema on the Bayou will present four screenings of Pat Mire’s latest narrative feature, “Pointe Noire,” at 7 p.m. at Cité des Arts, 109 Vine St., Downtown Lafayette. Additional showings are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22, 7 p.m. Feb. 28 and 2 p.m. Sunday, March 1. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet director Pat Mire and co-screenwriter Rebecca Hudsmith for post-screening Q&A sessions. Tickets are $15 and available online at Cinema on the Bayou or at the door. All proceeds support the annual Cinema on the Bayou Film Festival, a volunteer-run juried festival held each January, as well as year-round film screenings and events.
- Collaborative Songwriting Session Instructor: Steve Smith: The Opelousas Museum & Interpretive Center is offering free workshops in visual, literary, and musical arts throughout February and March, inspired by its current exhibit “Where We Live: Opelousas Neighborhoods.” Featuring images and words from local residents, the exhibit explores the concept of neighborhood identity, and the workshops provide participants an opportunity to engage more closely with these themes. Events run from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 315 N. Main St., Opelousas, with refreshments included.
Sunday, Feb. 22
- Sunday Karaoke: Hosted by Singalong Entertainment: Sunday Karaoke at the Jefferson Street Library from 8 to 11 p.m.
- An Afternoon with Zachary G. Stein & Michael S. Martin!: Learn about the history of University of Louisiana at Lafayette with authors Dr. Zachary G. Stein and Dr. Michael S. Martin at CHB Lafayette on Saturday, February 22, at 2 p.m. Drawing from archives at the Edith Garland Dupré Library, Stein and Martin chronicle the university’s evolution from a vocational school through desegregation to its current status as an R1 research institution in their book, “University of Louisiana at Lafayette.” The authors will share insights into UL Lafayette’s history, answer questions, and sign copies of the book. Tickets are free but seating is limited and available through Bon Temps Tix, where attendees can also purchase copies to pick up at the event.
