Lauren Graham knows Gilmore Girls fans want another reunion, so she’s already come up with a pitch.

“I thought we were done with that conversation, and I realized we are not,” the actress, 58, told The Hollywood Reporter on the 2025 Emmy Awards red carpet on Sunday, September 14. “But I’ve been saying for a long time what I could see making sense is a Christmas movie in the tradition of Downton Abbey or those other kinds of shows that are over but then kind of come together, especially around the holidays. I think that would be very Gilmore friendly.”

Graham also noted that a Christmas movie would be a nice addition to the TV schedule.

“In America, we don’t have enough holiday programming,” she added. “Football is not holiday programming.”

Graham and Alexis Bledelreunited during the Emmys to reflect on their time portraying mother-daughter duo Lorelai and Rory Gilmore, respectively. The actresses starred on the series for seven seasons from 2000 to 2007 and later reprised their roles for the 2016 Netflix revival, Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life.

“Twenty-five years ago, a show called Gilmore Girls premiered and apparently took the season of fall hostage,” Graham joked from the iconic front porch set as Bledel, 44, chimed in that “in spite of our autumnal dominance” Gilmore Girls “was actually a very small show.”

“Meaning we had no money,” Graham said, quipping that “if there was a birthday at The Drew Carey Show next door, they would send us their leftover sheet cake.”

Meanwhile, Bledel recalled, “We saved up all year long to have one snow episode.”

Graham and Bledel — who presented the category of Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series — went on to applaud Gilmore Girls for its “great,” “big” and “terrifyingly lengthy scripts.”

Since its early struggles, Gilmore Girls has found a devoted audience, with new fans discovering the show via streaming all the time.

A documentary is in the works for the show’s 25th anniversary with a focus on its enduring popularity. Graham has not filmed anything for the project, explaining to Entertainment Tonight on Sunday that she opted out since Gilmore Girls creator Amy Sherman-Palladino isn’t involved in the documentary.
