Christian Latin artist Lexly Nirvana received a huge opportunity when the music director of AEW reached out to her. The wrestling company needed a new theme song for Mexican wrestler Thunder Rosa.
“Growing up watching wrestling, this is just kind of mind-blowing to be able to write an entrance song for a wrestler,” said Lexly. “I’m very grateful for the opportunity, you know? I would’ve never thought I’d ever do that, little Lexi watching wrestling and being a fan with my siblings. It’s awesome, and it’s awesome to see what God is doing.”
After a few back and forths with the recording and a tight deadline, the song is out. The track is called “Blood and Fire” and is part of the AEW compilation New Wave. The song was a bit out of the norm for Lexly, with it being a Latin rock/rap track. Nevertheless, she delivered.
“I got approached, and I just want to say, thank you for the mentors and people that were behind this as well, being able to do this deal. I’m just grateful to God,” she explained. “We need community, we need people to be looking out for us.”
She continued, “The song was inspired by Proverbs 31. I needed to write something for Thunder Rosa. It’s awesome representing a Mexican wrestler. ¡Viva México! I did some singing on the track, and once I turned it in, they’re like, ‘Oh, can you switch these little parts here?’, which I did, and those parts that I switched, that’s actually some of the parts that were added to the track of what you hear now.”
