Netflix subscribers can rest assured that The Witcher is carrying on just fine without a former Superman actor.
The first look at season 4 of the fantasy drama series — which is an adaptation of CD Projekt Red’s video game franchise as well as Andrzej Sapkowski’s novels of the same name — was just released. The eight-episode season hits Netflix on October 30, according to Variety.
Fans will recall that Henry Cavill portrayed the show’s protagonist Geralt in the first three seasons. But in October 2022, Cavill, 42, announced on Instagram that he was departing the series and that Liam Hemsworth would take over the role of the eponymous witcher.
Season 3 — which was released in two parts in June and July 2023 — was Cavill’s final outing as the character.
“My journey as Geralt of Rivia has been filled with both monsters and adventures, and alas, I will be laying down my medallion and my swords for Season 4,” Cavill wrote in his October 29, 2022 Instagram post. “In my stead, the fantastic Mr. Liam Hemsworth will be taking up the mantle of the White Wolf.”
In addition to Hemsworth, 35, the cast also includes Anya Chalotra, Freya Allan, Joey Batey and Laurence Fishburne.
Season 4 will be the penultimate season of The Witcher, as Variety noted, with the series coming to a close after season 5.
