(NewsNation) — Musical icon Lionel Richie had to cut his tour-opener short on Wednesday night after a “dizzy” spell.
The 77-year-old singer kicked off his “Sing A Song All Night Long” tour in St. Paul, Minnesota, singing hits like “Dancing on the Ceiling,” which he performed from a seat on stage.

Lionel later told the audience, “When you’re feeling dizzy, sit your ass down,” admitting he’s never performed the song while sitting, according to the Minnesota Star Tribune.

About an hour into the performance, the show stopped abruptly. After the surprise intermission, saxophonist Dino Soldo appeared on stage to announce that “unfortunately, Lionel is not feeling well. He won’t be able to continue.”
Richie’s next show is scheduled for Friday in Chicago, but his health status remains unknown.
