Emerging country artist Hunt Pipkin has released “Couldn’t Be Us”, his official recording debut and his first single.
A heartfelt meditation on timing, youth, and a bittersweet love that wasn’t meant to be, “Couldn’t Be Us” arrives alongside an official acoustic performance video. Check out Pipkin’s live, raw vocals and emotional delivery below:
The song pairs relatable lyrics with Pipkin’s distinctive blend of country, pop, rock, and R&B influences.”I wrote this song while going through a breakup when it seemed like we had everything in place,” says Pipkin. “I got together with some buddies—Frank Romano, Randall Fowler, Alex Cabrera, and Marty James—and realized they had all been through the same thing. So we wrote a song about how sometimes it’s being too young, the timing not being right, or just feeling like you might have different paths. It’s no hard feelings, but you still can’t help but think about what could have been.”
Across his social platforms, Pipkin’s viral covers and original content have generated more than 55 million views. His cover of Usher’s “Yeah!” — which earned a nod from Usher himself — became a breakout moment that introduced him to millions, and he has since built on that momentum steadily. Having teased the forthcoming track on TikTok and Instagram since February, Pipkin’s highly anticipated recorded debut has already generated significant buzz ahead of its release, with user-generated content featuring the song accumulating more than 845K views.
Originally from Henderson, Tennessee, now based in Nashville, 20-year-old Hunt Pipkin is a dynamic singer and guitarist who blends country roots with R&B, rock, pop, and Broadway influences into a sound that’s entirely his own. While known widely across social media, Pipkin is no stranger to the live spotlight.
He has performed at Harlem’s famed Apollo Theater — earning a standing ovation — and the Orpheum Theatre in Memphis, and appeared on ‘The Voice’ in both 2020 and 2024.
