The future of the Levitt AMP Music Series in Springfield | Video
Officials are making a pitch for the free Levitt AMP Music Series to continue in Springfield but new leadership will be at the helm.
Here’s where you can enjoy live music outdoors this week in the Springfield area:
Tuesday and Saturday: Springfield Municipal Band
The Springfield Municipal Band, under the direction of Tom Philbrick, plans two concerts this week:
June 2: Duncan Park Band Shell, 7:30 p.m.
June 6, Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum, 10 a.m.
Thursday: Levitt AMP Springfield Music Series
June 4: Anita Michelle Jackson with Butter will perform a free jazz concert at 6:15 p.m. at the Y Block (between Fourth and Fifth streets and Capitol Avenue and Jackson Street). There will be free kids’ activities, an SMTD cooling bus, merch tables and food trucks. Concert-goers should bring their own chairs and/or blankets.v
Friday: Jacksonville Main Street Downtown Concert Series
June 5: HuDost, an electric folk band, performs a free concert 6-9 p.m. at Jacksonville Central Park Plaza, at the intersection of North Central Park Street and West Central Park Street.
Saturday: Sherman Live at the Amp Xfinity Concert Series
June 6: Cody Parks & the Dirty South (country metal), with Phantom Lordz (Metallica tribute band) kick off the season at the amphitheater in Sherman Village Park, 1200 Rail Fence Road, Sherman. Show starts at 7 pm with headliner at 9 p.m. Most concerts are $11 up to one week before the show.
