Lizzo took her health-conscious energy to Twitch this week, joining rapper BigXthaPlug for a livestream that turned into an unexpected soda showdown.
During the stream, the two walked through a Walmart when Lizzo pointed to a shelf and told BigX, “We got to get some Coke Zeros.”
BigX immediately pushed back, saying how ridiculous it is that she would drink soda at all if it’s sugar-free and calorie-free.
“Coke Zero is crazy. You might as well not even drink soda. It’s zero,” he said, looking baffled at the idea. Lizzo shot back with a laugh, “What, so what do you drink? You’re a water person?”
BigX clarified, “I mean, I drink soda.”
That opened the door for even more debate as Lizzo pressed him further: “So you’ll drink a full-fat Coke? Oh no no no.”
The two continued debating the topic until Lizzo admitted she has her own twist on diet drinks, revealing she adds “sugar-free vanilla” to her Diet Coke. However, BigX wasn’t buying it, replying, “You might as well drink a regular vanilla Coke.”
The playful argument ended with the artists discussing that a standard 12-ounce bottle of regular Coke packs 150 calories, leaving them both in shock.
Beyond the livestream laughs, Lizzo has been candid about how her own health journey has shifted her perspective on body image.
In a recent interview with Women’s Health UK, she said she feels confident in her newly slimmed-down appearance, noting, “I like how I look now. I’m still plus-size, I still have the same belly, the same thighs—I just feel like a smaller version of myself.”
She also explained that for her, body positivity isn’t about staying one size forever but about embracing change: “Body positivity is about existing boldly in a world that tells you not to.”
Lizzo added that whether her body changes again or not, she refuses to be shamed for it.
“It’s okay to lose weight. It’s okay to gain weight again. What’s not okay is trying to shame me if my body evolves,” she said.
