Lloyd native and bluegrass fiddler Jason Carter has been nominated for several International Bluegrass Music Association awards this year.
His nominations include:
• Song of the Year for “Outrun the Rain” with Michael Cleveland.
• Album of the Year for “Carter and Cleveland” with Michael Cleveland.
• Instrumental Recording of the Year for “Bluegrass in the Backwoods” with Michael Cleveland and “Kern County Breakdown” with Michael Cleveland.
• Collaborative Recording of the Year for “Outrun the Rain” with Michael Cleveland, Jaelee Roberts and Vince Gill.
• New Artist of the Year.
• Fiddle Player of the Year.
Carter, whose name appears on a sign along the Country Music Highway, has already won three Grammy Awards and has won Fiddler of the Year from the IBMA five times.
He was the fiddle player for the Del McCoury Band, the most awarded group in bluegrass history, for 30 years and is a founding member of the Travelin’ McCourys.
He also has performed on recordings by Steve Earle, Ricky Skaggs, Dierks Bentley, Charlie Daniels, Vince Gill, Asleep at the Wheel and others.
This year’s IBMA award winners will be announced on Sept. 18 during the 36th annual IBMA Bluegrass Music Awards ceremony in Chattanooga, Tennessee, as part of the IBMA World of Bluegrass event.
