The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh have released their Christmas card for 2025 and this year it features a cheeky note as well as a small feature from their children. Prince Edward and Duchess Sophie can be seen in three new, never-before-seen photographs from their trip to Japan and Nepal.
In one of them, Edward, wearing a hat and carrying a walking stick, is seen trying to cross a wooden bridge, while another shot of Sophie is next to it, taking in the scenery as she poses in front of a snowy mountain. The cheeky caption read: “Sophie taking the high road and Edward taking the slightly wobbly one!”
Inside the card, a third picture showed the royal couple looking and smiling at each other during their visit to the Ryogoku Kokugikan arena, with the caption saying: “sizing each other up”.
The card also featured a message saying: “Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.”
It was signed by Sophie, Edward, as well as their children, Lady Louise Windsor and James, Earl of Wessex.
The back of the card also featured Edward and Sophie’s cypher, an E overlapping with an S.
It came just days after the Prince and Princess of Wales released their own Christmas card featuring a new family portrait with their three children.
The image, released on Kensington Palace’s social media last Thursday, showed William and Catherine sitting on the grass amid spring daffodils surrounded by their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
The post read: “Wishing everyone a very Happy Christmas.”
The family snapshot was taken by photographer Josh Shinner in Norfolk in April.
It appeared to be the same photoshoot used to capture portraits for George’s 12th and Louis’s seventh birthdays.
