As season 8 of Love Island USA winds down, Islander Jen Terry is unpacking what fans have right — and wrong — about the couples.
First up, Melanie and Sincere.
“I am not surprised that she forgave him [after Casa and movie night] because they always get back together. It’s that toxic relationship that you love. You love to see it. When they fight, it’s bad. When they’re together, it’s great,” Jen tells Entertainment Weekly. “Melanie has had times where she’s messed up as well in there and he forgives her, and there’s, obviously, times where Sincere has messed up and Melanie forgives him.”
While there’s been a lot of debate about whether Sincere is, well, sincere with his feelings as he’s been caught saying the same thing to more than one woman, Jen insists he really likes Melanie.
“I think they really do like each other and that’s why they have so many arguments, which is not a reason to keep going, of course, because it’s creating toxicity for both of them. But I think they do have a lot of feelings towards each other,” she says. “They just need to figure out how to not fight anymore, basically. They have some things to work out, but I think they can do it.”
Another couple that has been in question is Zach and Kayda.
“I don’t know why everyone’s hating on Zach!” Jen tells EW. “I’m confused. Zach’s not a bad guy. Maybe I’m missing something, but from what I’ve seen, Zach is great and he’s obsessed with Kayda. He really is. I hope this helps you all — he is absolutely obsessed with her!”
According to Jen, Zach and Kayda are “always on top of each other, touching each other, kissing each other.”
She continues, “He definitely likes her. I don’t know where this other information is coming from.”
Despite rooting for both Melanie and Sincere and Zach and Kayda, Jen’s guess for the winners are Trinity and Bryce.
“I’ve seen a lot of speculation online and it seems like everyone loves Trinity and Bryce,” she says, predicting that they will also make it in the real world. “I think Trinity and Bryce are going to kill it. I love seeing them together. They are super happy. Even when they’re not in their private chats, they’re in the kitchen together, they’re working out together. I have loved watching Trinity open up to him a lot more because I feel like Bryce has always been pretty open with her and now she feels super comfortable with him and I just love watching them together.”

She adds, “I am [biased because] Bryce is my friend from long, long years and I absolutely love, love, love Trinity. She was the first girl to show me around in the villa, so I love them.”
Kenzie’s true intentions have been another hot topic online. While Jen had ups and downs with Kenzie as they expressed interest in the same guy, she says they are on “great terms.”
“I still love her. We’ve got to give the girl some grace. We f— up sometimes. We mess up and Love Island is the perfect place to mess up, I think, and take those risks if she wants to explore her connections,” she says. “And let me tell you, that girl is exploring. She’s having fun and I love to see her have fun. If she wants to talk to every man in there, go talk to every man in there because when you come outside, you can’t be doing all of that. You can’t be talking to your friend’s man at once. So I told her to do it in there, but outside, ‘No, no, no.'”

Kenzie is currently in a couple with Dylan, who is now questioning her authenticity as well.
“I was there for movie night and Dylan spoke up, which I’m glad he spoke up because that’s why I spoke to Kenzie too. Not speaking up when you’re feeling something that deep, you’re going to grow resentment and nobody wants that because then it becomes a ticking time bomb that you’re just going to explode and then you’ll never be friends,” she says. “Dylan, he’s just going to have to gain the trust in her.”
In general, this cast has been more physical than past Islanders — at least in challenges. Jen says that the group talked about going all in.
“[The convo is] more like, ‘Are we going to have fun today or are we going to be jealous and crying about our man kissing another girl?’ We were all super down to have fun,” she says. “Everyone’s saying this is the most freaked out season of Love Island. And I’m like, ‘Oh, well, we were kissing a lot.’ Even before I went into the villa, I got to watch the first three episodes in the hotel to know what I was getting into. I was like, ‘Oh, they’re kissing for breakfast! Normally I feel like I’ve never seen that before. I’ve only seen seasons 6 and 7 of USA. I don’t remember [Islanders] the first few episodes kissing during breakfast, but I was down. If you want to do that, we’re here for it!”
Outside of challenges, there have been several hookups in the communal bedroom, which have been exposed with the code word “French fries” by the Islanders.
“It was the girls [who started saying it first], I know that, but I don’t know which girl it was. If I had to take a guess, it was Kenzie or Trinity who started that,” Jen tells EW. “We just know what it meant and what we were referring to. There’s hamburger now too. The full meal, a happy meal. But French fries came from finger food and you get the rest. If you don’t, go on Urban Dictionary!”
Love Island USA airs daily episodes on Peacock, leading up to the season finale on Sunday, July 12, at 9 p.m ET.
