Cynthia Erivo will kick off the 2025 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade!
On Monday, Nov. 17, the Wicked star and three-time Academy Award nominee was announced by USA TODAY as the opening performer for the 99th annual parade.
The performance will come nearly a week after the second Wicked installment, Wicked: For Good, premieres in theaters on Friday, Nov. 21.
It has not been revealed what exactly Erivo will be performing at the event — but it’s likely a few of the Wicked numbers will make the cut.
The other previously announced marquee performances set to take place on 34th Street in front of Macy’s Herald Square flagship store include EJAE, Audrey Nuna, and REI AMI, the singing voices of HUNTR/X from Netflix’s KPop Demon Hunters; numbers from Broadway’s Buena Vista Social Club, Just in Time, and Ragtime; and an appearance by the Radio City Rockettes in celebration of their 100th anniversary.
Notable names like Colbie Caillat, Ciara, Gavin DeGraw, Foreigner, Taylor Momsen, Busta Rhymes, Calum Scott, and Teyana Taylor are also set to perform.
Erivo previously made an appearance during the 2024 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, where she was interviewed about the release of the first Wicked movie and encouraged audiences to sing while watching it in theaters. She also gifted TODAY Show host Hoda Kotb a bouquet of flowers shortly after she announced her retirement.
The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade will air on NBC and Peacock at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 27 in all time zones.
Kotb and TODAY’s Savannah Guthrie and Al Roker will return as hosts of the broadcast. After its initial airing, the broadcast will have an encore on NBC at 2 p.m. ET/PT.
