During his visit to 60 Minutes on CBS, President Donald Trump was given an unusual title.
Norah O’Donnell, who conducted the interview, referred to President Trump as “Mr. Trump,” stirring outrage from fans.
“I hate when they call him, ‘Mr. Trump!’ He is the PRESIDENT. 60 Minutes doesn’t deserve to interview him – let’s see how they spin this,” one X user penned, following his $16M payout from the show.
Another added, “On the 60 Minutes, the interviewer just says Mr. Trump? Not President Trump or Mr. President? Really?”
“It’s President Trump, not Mr. Trump. As usual 60 Minutes is showing Trump zero respect,” a third penned.
Trump is making his big return to 60 Minutes, marking his first visit to the program in over five years, and his first since settling a lawsuit with CBS News earlier in 2025.
The interview, conducted on Halloween at the president’s Mar-a-Lago club in Palm Beach, Florida, was led by CBS contributing correspondent Norah O’Donnell.
Before it’s premiere, CBS dished that Trump discussed a wide range of major government issues during the conversation, including U.S.-China relations, Venezuela, Israel, the government shutdown, immigration, and the National Guard.
It’s his first interview with the network since he sued and reached $16 million settlement with CBS’s parent company, Paramount, over a 2024 election interview with Kamala Harris. He did not include an apology.
Trump declined to appear on 60 Minutes during the 2024 campaign after initially suggesting that he would participate. He previously sat down with Mike Wallace in 1985, Scott Pelley in 2015, and Lesley Stahl in both 2016 and 2018. His last appearance in 2020 ended when he walked out mid-interview, later accusing the show of bias.

CBS News did not disclose details about how the latest interview was arranged or whether any conditions were imposed.
O’Donnell, a former CBS Evening News anchor, is not a regular correspondent for the program.
The new interview comes amid leadership switch-ups at Paramount after its merger with David Ellison’s Skydance Media, approved earlier this year.
Trump recently praised the Ellisons while returning from a Middle East trip, telling reporters, “Larry Ellison is great, and his son David is great. They’re friends of mine. They’re big supporters of mine, and they’ll do the right thing.”
