A man has been arrested after allegedly threatening King Charles III’s brother, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, near his Norfolk home this week.
Police were called to an area near the Sandringham Estate, where Mr Mountbatten-Windsor moved earlier this year, at about 7.30pm Wednesday, local time, after receiving “a report a man was behaving in an intimidating manner”.
“Officers attended, and the man was arrested on suspicion of a public order offence and possession of an offensive weapon,” a police statement read.
Mr Mountbatten-Windsor, the former Duke of York, was stripped of his royal titles last year and booted out of his grace-and-favour mansion near London where he had lived for decades.
The 66-year-old has, since early February, resided at Marsh Farm — a property on the Sandringham Estate, which is privately owned by the royal family.
It’s understood the incident took place while Mr Mountbatten-Windsor was walking his dogs, and that the former royal had been accompanied by a security detail at the time.

Mr Mountbatten-Windsor, who remains eighth in line to the British throne, has attempted to keep a low profile since stepping back from royal duties in 2019.
He has been accused of multiple sexual offences — which he denies and has never been charged over — and earlier this year was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in a public office.
It’s understood the investigation relates to Mr Mountbatten-Windsor’s time as a trade commissioner for the UK, a role he held for a decade from 2001.
These controversies are all connected to the former prince’s friendship with Jeffrey Epstein, a convicted paedophile who died by suicide in a New York prison in 2019.
While Mr Mountbatten-Windsor seldom makes public appearances these days, he remains among the United Kingdom’s most identifiable people.
Mr Mountbatten-Windsor’s previous home, Royal Lodge, was part of the Windsor Estate, and had a significant security presence.
However, his new address is much less private. It’s located near a country road and is part of the village of Wolferton.
Security at the five-bedroom, two-bathroom property has been beefed up, including new perimeter fence and CCTV cameras, since Mr Mountbatten-Windsor moved in.
