In modern-day Bakersfield, Calif. (but with the vibe of a 40s noir), private eye Honey O’Donahue (Margaret Qualley) investigates the death of a client who was on her way to consult her. But the inquiry leads to a clash with a local religious cult that may or may not be involved with the mob.

Lots of lesbian action — and Coen brother Ethan Coen’s offbeat comic sensibility (he and Joel have been pursuing solo projects in recent years) set this apart from the usual detective movies.
