‘The engagement was joyfully celebrated on 11 October 2025, in Ksamil, Southern Albania, in the presence of family and close friends,’ revealed a communique from the royal palace. ‘The Royal Family shares their happiness with the Albanian people and extends heartfelt gratitude to all who have conveyed their kind wishes on this joyful occasion.’
The announcement accompanied a new formal portrait of the couple, with Blerta channelling her inner bride-to-be in an elegant floor-length satin gown.
Rumours of a royal engagement began to spread in September, when the future Princess made her debut at an official event with Crown Prince Leka. Blerta, a professional photographer, joined the Prince on a visit to the Queen Géraldine Foundation, which champions educational initiatives and charitable work across Albania.
The couple looked effortlessly stylish as they arrived hand-in-hand. Blerta, who seems to have studied the European royal style playbook of the Kate Middletons who have come before her, was the epitome of chic. She paired an oversized white shirt with fitted trousers and classic Stan Smith trainers, her brown hair falling in relaxed waves. Prince Leka coordinated seamlessly with his partner, opting for a smart grey blazer over a white shirt and jeans.
The milestone followed Prince Leka’s romantic Instagram reveal earlier in the summer, when he posted a photograph of himself and Blerta during a society event in Rome. ‘Invited to the residence of Prince Álvaro and Princess Antonella d’Orléans-Bourbon, in the heart of Rome, we experienced an evening curated with delicacy and taste,’ he wrote.
