Two well-known Massachusetts actresses are up for Golden Globes in 2026, with one nominated in a new award category.
For her role as chef Sydney Adamu in FX on Hulu’s “The Bear,” Dorchester native Ayo Edebiri earned her third Golden Globe nomination in the category of “Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy.”
The 2026 Golden Globe nominations were announced Monday, Dec. 8.
Edebiri was first nominated for a Golden Globe for her role in the Chicago-based comedy drama back in 2023, and won the award at the 81st Golden Globes in early 2024.
She was later nominated for a second time in late 2024, but lost to Jean Smart of HBO Max’s “Hacks” in the “Best Actress in a TV Comedy or Musical” category for the 82nd Golden Globes earlier this year.
Edebiri now stands a third chance at awards glory at the 83rd Golden Globes on Sunday, Jan. 11, 2026.
She is up against Kristen Bell in Netflix’s “Nobody Wants This,” Selena Gomez in Hulu’s “Only Murders in the Building,” Natasha Lyonne in Peacock’s “Poker Face,” Jenna Ortega in Netflix’s “Wednesday” and, once again, reigning winner Jean Smart in “Hacks.”
Fellow Massachusetts native Amy Poehler, who is from Burlington, received her fourth Golden Globe nomination on Monday — but in a category distinct from all of her previous nominations.
“Good Hang with Amy Poehler‚” Poehler’s podcast that launched in March, is nominated in the awards show’s inaugural “Best Podcast” category.
Poehler’s podcast is being recognized alongside “Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard,” “Call Her Daddy” hosted by Alex Cooper, “The Mel Robbins Podcast,” “Up First from NPR” and “SmartLess” hosted by actors Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes and Will Arnett — the latter of whom is Poehler’s ex-husband.
Poehler was previously nominated for three Golden Globes for her role as Leslie Knope on the NBC mockumentary series “Parks and Recreation” in the “Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy” category.
After two nominations for the 2012 and 2013 ceremonies, Poehler won the award in 2014.
The 83rd Golden Globe Awards will be hosted once again by comedian Nikki Glaser and will take place at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California. The show will be broadcast on CBS and streaming on Paramount+.
