To find out your opinion, here at The Daily Express we launched a poll to find out whether our readers thought King Charles’s US state visit saved the special relationship.
The poll ran from 12pm on April 30 until 12pm on May 2.
Over 3,000 readers voted, with 2523 readers voting “yes” – this means they thought the King’s state visit to the US had saved the special relationship.
A total of 294 people voted no, while 295 people said they weren’t sure.
This is a huge win for King Charles, especially as many people doubted whether it was a good idea for the monarch to go in the first place.
Their Majesties’ message read: “Farewell and thank you for the warmth of your welcome and the kind support you gave us throughout our first visit to the US as King and Queen, in this, your special anniversary year.
“We leave a piece of our hearts behind and take a little of yours back home with us. Until the next time… God Bless America. – Charles R. & Camilla R.”
US President Donald Trump was also full of praise for the monarch at the end of the state visit.
