Love Island host Maya Jama shared the changes she would make to the latest series of the show

Maya Jama, the cherished presenter of Love Island, has revealed what she would alter about this year’s series.
The ITV dating phenomenon concluded its 13th season following eight weeks filled with dramatic developments and unexpected moments. The climax arrived during a live finale broadcast straight from the villa.
Maya resumed her presenting role as she announced Lorenz Alessi and Julia Majchrzak as the victors. The couple not only secured the coveted title but also walked away with the £50,000 prize money.
Maya has now offered her perspective on the contestants and her reflections on how the series unfolded. The television host appeared as a special guest on the final instalment of Love Island The Debrief.
This newly revamped video podcast companion show for the current season examines all the villa drama through exclusive interviews. It features stars from last year’s final three couples, including Shakira Khan, Toni Laites and Yasmin Pettet, reports OK!

Recording their own special finale at the villa, the episode is scheduled to broadcast on Tuesday evening (July 28) at 9pm on ITV2. It is, however, already accessible on ITVX and Love Island’s YouTube page.
During the opening segment, the trio questioned Maya about her views on the 13th season. When asked about the final itself, she commented: “The finalists always make sense to me, so happy with the outcome.”
But when questioned about whether any eliminated contestants deserved longer in the villa, she acknowledged: “Yeah, I wanted Mara to stay longer. Definitely, I feel like she had such an impact. Even Ethan could have been brought on -“.
Maya then cut herself short, apparently worried she might be revealing too much about what happens behind the cameras. She admitted: “I don’t know how much I’m allowed to say actually, low key, but you can cut it out – I feel like Ethan maybe should have been brought in a little bit sooner.”
The Bristol-born presenter discussed some production decisions she might have changed, had she been one of the ‘Love Island Gods’. She remarked: “Even the podcast situation we did would have been beneficial, like, earlier – because near the end well Tommy and Yas, it f***** them a little bit, didn’t it?”

She suggested that if that specific challenge had happened before the final week, it might have altered the “route of the series”. Nevertheless, she commended the decision-makers, noting: “The higherups know what they’re doing.”
Maya also revealed that she feels her empathy has only grown stronger thanks to her recent role set to air later this year. She is set to feature in the second season of BBC’s Celebrity Traitors and explained how this has changed her understanding of what goes on in the villa.
She said: “I see you [the Islanders] once every two weeks or something and actually it’s really hard and your emotions are being played with and then you’re having bombshells and cameras are rolling 24/7 .
“The closest I ever got to it was I did The Traitors and I was like ‘Oh my days’, I relate to them on a whole other level and I wasn’t even playing with love at that point. So, the public know who they love and they voted right and I’m happy.”
