It has previously been reported that Meghan and Harry were keen to trademark Archie and Lilibet’s names, complete with their prince and princess titles. According to Page Six, the couple have since claimed the young royals’ names as emails, social media handles and domain names.
Speaking of well-known celebrities that have trademark their children’s names, an industry source noted that – in regards to Archie and Lilibet – using their names to market any future goods sold would be different.
With speculation growing over how the couple plan to use their children’s titles in the public eye, they said: “It’s not about safeguarding the children – that’s understandable. It’s what you plan to do with [it] that’s the key.”
Meghan recently used her children as inspiration for her latest As Ever collection, which is now available on her brand’s website.
The 44-year-old recently unveiled two £47 candles, No. 506, for “Prince Archie of Sussex’s Birthdate,” and No. 604, for “Princess Lilibet of Sussex’s Birthdate”.
Archie was born in the UK on May 6, 2019 whilst Lilibet was born in California on June 4, 2021.
The Lilibet-inspired candle reads that it will add “a sense of brightness and openness to the home”, whilst Archie-inspired candle will bring “a soft, familiar ease into the room”.
Alonside a clip of a tearful Meghan talking about her children’s safety in the couple’s 2022 Netflix docuseries, they wrote: “Meghan Markle went from caring about ‘her babies’ safety to splashing their names on candles for a buck while Harry waits for an outcome on his security case against the Home office.”
