The Duchess of Sussex has shared video footage of Princess Lilibet petting chickens at their California home.
Meghan, 44, posted the video on social media showing her daughter, four, with the bird in their garden in Montecito.
Wearing fluorescent wellington boots, Lilibet reached out to touch the chicken before it ran away from her.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex keep a flock of chickens at their home in a coop named Archie’s Chick Inn, in reference to their son Prince Archie, six.
The couple have kept the chickens since 2021, when they rescued a number of hens from a factory farm.
The coop featured in their interview with Oprah Winfrey that year, with the Duchess telling the host: “I just love rescuing.”
Elsewhere in the videos, The Duchess was shown arranging flowers in a vase as the Duke said: “So brilliant, babe.”
The Duchess was also filmed picking at a wisteria tree and reading a collection of poetry called They Bloom Because of You.
Since moving to the US, the Duke and Duchess have guarded their children’s privacy fiercely. The Duchess has increasingly posted photographs of them on her Instagram feed, often with their faces obscured.
In April, the Duke and Duchess called for stronger protections for children online after unveiling a memorial in New York to young people who lost their lives because of the harmful effects of social media.
The Duke and Duchess joined a vigil and met families who believe social media played a part in the deaths of their children.
The Duke told BBC Breakfast that life was “better off social media” and said “enough is not being done”, adding that he was grateful that Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet were too young to be online.
The couple are due to spend four days in Sydney and Melbourne next month. In their first visit to Australia in seven years, they will “take part in a number of private, business, and philanthropic engagements”.
The couple last visited the country in 2018, five months after their wedding, when the Duchess was pregnant with Prince Archie.
The Duke is scheduled to appear at a “workplace mental health summit”, which will explore the need for urgent action to change attitudes. Tickets start at £1,050, rising to more than £9,000 for a “platinum” table of eight.
The Duchess will address ticket-holders at a gala dinner during a women-only retreat at a five-star hotel at Coogee Beach in Sydney, described as a “girls’ weekend like no other”. Tickets start at £1,400 per person and VIP guests are offered front-row seats and a group photo with the Duchess.
