Meghan Markle appears to crack a three-word joke about her acting skills as she’s spotted on the film set for Close Personal Friends. The 44-year-old previously gave up her career as an actress upon getting engaged to Prince Harry in 2017, with speculation having recently grown over whether she would return to her roots since stepping down from royal duties in 2020.
And last week it was revealed that she will appear in a new Hollywood film. Pictured arriving on set in Pasadena, California, on November 5, she reportedly introduced herself simply as ‘Meghan’, with an insider sharing that “everything about her was very sweet and calm”.
According to the insider, Meghan also shared a joke about her acting skills, which she hasn’t used professionally since 2017.
The insider told PEOPLE: “She genuinely seemed excited to be on set”, with sharing that Meghan said that she felt “a bit rusty”.
Speaking to the publication, they added: “She was joking that she felt a bit rusty, but it was obvious that she had rehearsed and that it was a big deal for her to be back.
“And she was great. She had a very warm energy, too. She was super pleasant to be around.”
As she stars alongside Emily in Paris’ Lily Collins, and Brie Larson in a romcom for the streaming era, the move signals a “return to doing what she truly loves”, according to another close source.
However, others have claimed that there were other motives to her Hollywood return. A source close to the couple’s operation told the Daily Mail: “It seems clear that she is desperate for attention, to be relevant, and for money.”
Speaking about the decision to give up acting during the couple’s engagement interview, Meghan said: “I don’t see it as giving anything up, I just see it as a change. It’s a new chapter.
“Right. And also keep in mind I’ve been working on my show for seven years. So we’re very very fortunate to be able to have that sort of longevity on a series and for me, once we hit the 100-episode marker I thought, you know what, I have ticked this box and I feel really proud of the work I’ve done there and now it’s time to, as you said, work as a team with you.”
